Vanity seems to run more of a priority for many women instead of staying at home and being safe during a virus pandemic.
If you’re in Houston like me, the Governor announced that beauty related businesses including nail shops, hair salons and spas were allowed to re-open as long as common sense was used, of course.
I’m not here to judge anyone who decides to ease themselves off of safety measures to protect themselves or flat out ignore them. However, I’m concerned not just for myself but those around me.
I get it, being on ‘lock down’ for nearly over 6-weeks now can cause many of us to go ‘stir crazy”, especially not being able to go in for our weekly or monthly beauty ‘R&R’.
Many of us find solace in our beauty treatments and we are more confident when doing so. If we have a significant other, we are even more inspired to stay on top of our looks as vein as that may sound. I personally blame society and the pressures on women to stay looking youthful until the day they are in the grave.
But without further ado, let’s jump into the safety tips and some precautions you can take if you really just have to go get your botox, nails done, or facial etc.
How to stay safe at NAIL SHOP.
Bring your own nail tools:
I can assure you this doesn’t take away from the experience. Knowing the nail technician is using tools that you know were steralized thoroughly or better yet, brand new. You are ensuring no cross contamination has occurred with the tools being used on your hands and feet.
If you have a great report with the salon, they can keep your tools on site and put away for you for your next visit so that you’re not walking in with tools every visit.
Wear a Mask:
Listen, wearing a mask is super annoying. I get that. However, its best to be ‘safe’ than sorry and honestly why would you be wanting to breath in the chemicals from the nail polish and file debri etc while there is a virus going around.
Use hand sanitizer:
Bring your own hand sanitizer use it before you arrive and after.
Paying for service:
Try to use your card or cashapp only. Tendering in cash requires a lot of hand touching and passing on germs best to minimize that.
SPA and/or Hair SALON
This is a little tricky as there is not much you can do. You honestly need to do this at your own ‘risk’. Theres just no way around your stylist or esthetician using their hands to perform their service.
Wear a mask (if you can), gloves and have hand sanitizer on hand.
Good luck and stay safe people.
